Call for Directors: Be Interviewed on From the Director’s Chair
Are you a director with a story to tell?
We want to hear from you!
From the Director’s Chair is a new interview series from Deconstructing Directing. We’re creating space for directors, especially those in upstream (community, educational, and indie) theatre spaces, to share how they learned (or didn’t learn) to direct, what their rehearsal rooms look like, and the philosophies that guide their work.
Each conversation will be released as:
Video (minimally edited) for our Patreon community
Polished audio on the Deconstructing Directing podcast feed
What You Need
A quiet space for about 60–75 minutes
A computer with video (not a phone or tablet)
A reliable internet connection
What to Expect
This is a volunteer opportunity; no payment involved, just a chance to share your voice and perspective with our audience.
A guided conversation with Andrew Roblyer exploring your journey, training, identity, taste, and leadership as a director
A playful closing segment called Thank You, Ten (our lightning-round questionnaire for every guest)
Minimal prep: we’ll provide a sense of the themes ahead of time, but no need to script or rehearse—just bring yourself
How to Apply
If you’re interested, please fill out the form on this page.
Tell us a little about who you are, where you direct, and why you’d like to join us in the chair. Once we receive your submission and confirm we have space in our interview schedule, we’ll reach out and give you instructions on scheduling your interview time.
Let’s make the invisible work of directing visible, one conversation at a time.
